Summer Reading Club (All kids ages 3 and up)

Picture
This club is for kids 3 years old and older! This year, we're doing Read and Bead! Sign up, get a Reading Log. Then, choose if you want a keychain or necklace and add your brag tag. Keep reading throughout the summer to add beads to your chain! We have glow-in-the-dark beads, sparkly beads and more. Also, we have beads shaped like footballs, dolphins, flowers, giraffes and more! Read more about Read and Bead.

Find out more about Read and Bead here!!!

Record your reading by Summer Reading Club logs must be turned in no later than July 23 to enter raffle for any prizes. Kids may continue to read through the end of August to add beads to their necklace.

Sign up in the library!

Pick your reading log up at the library.

Summer Reading Club (All kids 0-36 months)

Because of the small parts, children under 3 years old cannot earn beads. However, they can still sign up and read with their family! Children under 3 who are read to for 10+ hours over the summer can pick up a book to keep for their own!

Frequently Asked Questions

Picture
When and where can I pick up reading club information?
Pick up your reading packet anytime at the Brownwood Library (600 Carnegie St.) beginning May 26.

What can I read?
Anything you enjoy! You can read graphic novels, comics, magazines, books, audiobooks and more! You also don't have to read library books. Read your own books, read library books or borrow from a friend!

What does it cost to participate?
Nothing! The Summer Reading Club is provided free of charge to the community.

Do I need a library card to participate?
No, but we'd encourage you to get one anyway! Brownwood Library cards are free. With your library card, you can borrow eBooks, audiobooks, DVDs, magazines and borrow a computer. Besides, it's a small way you can help your local library. It helps us show our funders and donors that the library is important to our community!

How do I complete the Summer Reading Club?
The goal for the summer is 10 hours. Complete the goal, earn a certificate and a special paw-shaped brag tag for your necklace, available only for kids completing the 2022 SRC goal! We hope to increase the number of kids reaching the goal this year! Even after you reach the goal, you can keep going and earning beads until the end of August.

What about the big prizes?
This year we're focusing more on the value of reading and don't have as many big prizes. However, we do have a few donations and coupons that we'll be giving out. You get an automatic entry to win for each hour your read!

I'm a daycare provider/preschool teacher. How can I participate?
First, we'd encourage you to bring your kids to our programs! There is room for all.

Second, talk to us about special arrangements for signing your kids up for Read and Bead. Even if you can't take the kids to the programs, we want all children in the community to be rewarded for reading! We've partnered with daycares in the past to make this as streamlined as possible. Give us a call and we'll see what we can do!

Third, please encourage your families to come. We love the daycares coming, but we really want families coming as well. Let parents know about programs and prizes!
