Brownwood Public Library
Endowment Fund

What is the Endowment Fund?

Brownwood Library’s Endowment Fund is a long term investment in the future of our library and our community. The interest generated from the endowment fund will help fund programs, events, and/or purchase new technologies for the library and the community. The endowment will augment, not replace, municipal funding.

The Library’s Endowment Fund was started in the ‘60s by a group of civic-minded community leaders who wanted to see the library thrive and serve the Brown County community for many years to come. At the time, the Endowment was set up to only be invested in government CDs, which was an excellent investment strategy at the time. In 2019, the Board of the Brownwood Public Library was able to move the money to become a fund of the Community Foundation of Abilene. In 2019, CFA saw a 10-year weighted average of 8.7% investment returns, so we are excited to see this investment grow.

Why support the Brownwood Public Library?

The Brownwood Public Library is an important and wonderful asset to Brown County and the surrounding area.
The library is a community based center for lifelong learning, and provides free computer use and WiFi, educational services, cultural events, and programs and activities for all ages.

The Brownwood Library has been going strong for more than a century and continues to thrive and evolve to serve the needs of our community for the next century. The library will use these additional funds to ensure it will be able to provide the services and technologies our patrons' want and need in the future.

Two Ways to Donate

How else to support the library?
