Book a Genealogist

Arrange for a personalized, face-to-face session with a seasoned genealogist.
Do you need help researching your family's history? Not sure where to start your family tree? Need help accessing online records? Want coaching on finding local records? Wherever you are in your research, our genealogy volunteers love to help researchers!

Book-a-Genealogist is a service of the Brownwood Public Library and Pecan Valley Genealogical Society to meet with a genealogist for a one-to-one customized help and skill-building session.The Book-a-Genealogist sessions are tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual. A volunteer genealogist will give undivided attention to customers who want in-depth assistance on topics such as starting the family tree, finding local history, using source documents, using subscription databases, and more.

How do I book a genealogist?
Please fill out the form below and someone will be in touch to coordinate a time. Alternatively, you may call the Genealogy Library at (325) 646-6006. Or just stop by any time they are open. Genealogy Library is open Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 to 6:00.
 
Who will be helping me?
Someone passionate about genealogy! Library staff or volunteers from the Pecan Valley Genealogy Association.
 
How long will the appointment be?
Each appointment will last approximately 30-45 minutes.
 
I need to cancel my appointment.
Please call (325) 646-6006 or email your Book a Librarian contact as soon as you can to cancel an appointment.  We are happy to reschedule your appointment for a more convenient time.

How do I check in for my appointment?
Just show up at the genealogy library, located at 213 S Broadway St. and ask for your genealogist.

I love genealogy and would like to be a volunteer genealogist. How can I help?
Most of our volunteer genealogists are members of the Pecan Valley Genealogical Society. They love meeting new people passionate about genealogy! Visit their website, stop by the Genealogy and Local History Library or attend one of their meetings to find out more.
