Read and Bead

Picture
Read and Bead is the Brownwood Library's Summer Reading Club for kids ages 3 and up*.
How it works:
  • Register at the library or online
  • Select a brag tag and a necklace or keychain
  • Start reading!
  • Record your minutes
  • Turn your minutes into beads for your chain! Log your minutes at the Library. For every hour you read, spin the spinner and win beads!
  • Every time you visit the library or a library event, choose a letter bead! Build your name or any other word!
  • When you reach the summer goal (10 hours) you'll receive a special, limited edition, puzzle-shaped brag tag!
  • Keep reading! Even after you reach the goal, you can add beads to your chain!

*Due to small parts and a potential choking hazard, families with young children should use caution with their Summer Reading prizes. For this same reason, children younger than 36 months are not eligible to accumulate beads in Read and Bead. However, they are still encouraged to come to the programs and read with their families. Children under 36 months who record 10 hours of reading together are eligible for a free book!
