Special Projects

These projects require some training and/or a longer term commitment
Promote the library at school and community events
Occasionally we’re invited to fairs and special events, but we don’t always have the staff to attend. You can help the community find out about valuable resources that could benefit them!

Lead baby storytime
We have the training materials, we need more teachers. It may sound difficult, but we’ll give you the tools to succeed! Baby storytime, called Mother Goose on the Loose, is for 8 week sessions.

Help out at Genealogy Library
Are you passionate about genealogy or local history? Do research or help visitors find their ancestors.

Lead the Crazy 8s Club
This is a fun, kids’ math program. It sounds difficult, but they’ve already done all the work for you. Just read ahead and help the kids with the program!
Be a leader in Next Chapter Book Club
The Next Chapter Book Club is a national organization hosting book clubs locally for adolescents and adults with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will receive training and be one of two volunteers to help with the book club!

Supervise the Lego Club
The Lego Club is a super simple, easy, once-a-month program. Basically, kids come and play with Legos and the adult-in-charge oohs and ahhs about it!

Deliver Books to Nursing Homes
We are looking to expand our partnerships with retirement and nursing homes. Develop a relationship with the folks at one nursing or retirement home and periodically pick up and drop off books for them to enjoy.

Homebound Delivery
Deliver books to our homebound patrons.
